KUWAZAWA Holdings

TSE Standard · 8104 · Construction materials wholesale and construction, Hokkaido · Filed September 17

KUWAZAWA Holdings gives QUO cards once a year. From the March 2027 cycle, holders will need to have held for at least a year, measured as five consecutive quarter-end appearances on the register. Holders of one year or more keep the current amounts of ¥1,000 to ¥3,000, plus a new ¥4,000 tier at 3,000 shares. A new tier for holders of three years or more roughly doubles the smaller amounts, from ¥2,000 at 100 shares to ¥5,000 at 3,000 shares. For the first cycle only, holders on both the December 2026 and March 2027 registers count as one-year holders. The company cited encouraging medium- to long-term holding.

Context

Both filings follow patterns that have been common across Japanese benefit disclosures this year. Prepaid QUO cards, long the default gift, are being replaced by electronic gifts that holders can redeem for the e-money or points they already use. Holding-period rules, once rare, are now a standard design tool: they let a company direct the benefit to holders who have been on the register for a year or more rather than to anyone present on a single date.

KUWAZAWA's version is more detailed than most. It checks the register every quarter, not twice a year, and it adds a transitional rule so that current holders are not cut off in the first year.

Yutai's view

A benefit that grows with tenure is a clear statement of which holders a company values. The mechanics behind it, though, still depend on matching shareholder numbers across domestic registers. That works for a holder with a Japanese broker account. It does not extend to holders who own the same company through other channels, and that gap matters more as shares become available in tokenized form.
