ZOJIRUSHI filed one of the few benefit changes of early October, adding a higher tier for long-term holders and moving its application process online.
Shareholder benefits, known in Japan as kabunushi yutai (株主優待), are voluntary perks that listed companies give their holders, usually products, vouchers or discounts on the company's own services. They are set by each company's board and are separate from dividends.

ZOJIRUSHI's benefit is a discount on purchases of its products: ¥1,000, ¥2,000 or ¥4,000 for holders of 100, 500 or 1,000 shares or more. From the November 2026 cycle, holders who have held for three years or more will receive ¥1,500, ¥3,000 or ¥6,000. Three years is measured as appearing under the same shareholder number on seven consecutive semiannual registers. Applications, previously by postcard, move to a website.
Context
A discount on the company's own products is one of the oldest forms of shareholder benefit in Japan. It costs the company less than a gift card, and it brings holders into contact with the brand. ZOJIRUSHI keeps that model and adds what many companies have added this year: a reward for tenure, and an online process in place of paper.
Yutai's view
A product discount sized by tenure is a loyalty program in its simplest form: the longer you stay, the more the company gives back. That logic applies to every holder of a consumer brand, wherever they live. Domestic registers and postcards are what keep it limited to holders in Japan.
